Courtney Roth | Artist and Illustrator | Portland, OR
I grew up in beautiful North Carolina, dancing in the evening thundershowers and frequently haunting the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains. As I began my adult life in the Charlotte metro area, I was fortunate enough to find many outlets for my art, including Creative Loafing magazine, Donna Downey Studios, 7th Street Public Market, Black Lion Gifts, and many art shows, gift shops, and of course, personal referrals. I am forever grateful to my hometown friends and family that helped me get Chipper Cheeper off the ground. In 2013, however, my family decided it was time for a change, so we packed everything we had into an 8x10' pod and a Honda Civic, headed to the beautiful Pacific Northwest, and never looked back!
Having since lived in both Portland and Eugene, I've gotten to experience some of the most incredible culture and stunning nature. This killer combination of wild beauty and creative people meant one thing: the Pacific Northwest is most definitely our home. From the towering evergreens to the snow-capped peaks always in view, Oregon has my heart. I'm so grateful for the supportive artist community in Portland that has made it so easy to seamlessly integrate into a new place in no time at all. I am so fortunate that I get to live in a place that supports art and creativity the way Oregon does. Not a day goes by that I'm not inspired by a fellow Oregonian artist.
If you can name a material I've probably at least dabbled in it. From oil painting to crocheting, I have done it all, but watercolor/pen & ink is my go-to medium. I love the soft whimsy of watercolor coupled with the bold definition of rich black India ink.
You can find prints of my work available on my Etsy shop, and of course, I love doing custom pieces. I offer a wide range of custom options at every price point, so whether you want a 10' square oil portrait or a 5"x7" pencil sketch, I've got a style for you.
I'd love to hear from you! You can find me at chippercheeper (at) gmail (dot) com, through Etsy, or on Instagram. Thank you so much for stopping by! Namaste!
